My name is Jera Freeman and I serve as the point of contact for military-connected students and their families here at Lampasas Middle School. I work closely with our registrar when enrolling military-connected students to make sure each is identified, properly coded, and receives support and services as needed. I am also the point of contact for the Student Leadership Committee, which is made up of a diverse population that includes military-connected students, who help LMS transition new students to our campus. To make sure our campus is up to date on the military-connected students we serve, our entire staff underwent professional development in October of 2022, presented by the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) titled "Serving Military-Connected Students". Since the fall of 2022, our LMS staff continues yearly with military related professional development, to ensure we understand the complexity of our military-connected students, their families, and the implications of military service.
